Daniel S. Shapiro is a founding partner of SRZ and a member of the Investment Management and Tax Groups. Based in the London office, his practice focuses on tax, fund structures, seed capital and other business issues related to investment funds. He lectures and writes extensively on the legal, tax and business aspects of investment funds. In September 2008, Dan also became a partner of SRZ client Lincoln Vale, a London- and Boston-based full-service multiple fund alternative asset management business.

After receiving his AB degree, cum laude, from Columbia University in 1960, Dan entered Columbia University School of Law, where he was a James Kent Scholar, a Harlan Fiske Stone Scholar and articles editor of the Columbia Law Review. After graduating in 1963, Dan studied as a Fulbright Fellow at the London School of Economics. Dan is a past member of the executive committee of the Tax Section of the New York State Bar Association and a former chair of the section’s Income from Real Property Subcommittee. Known for his civic and philanthropic involvements, Dan serves on the board of governors of the Weizmann Institute of Science in Israel, is a former secretary and executive committee member of the New York City Partnership and Chamber of Commerce Inc., and is a past president of the Federation of Jewish Philanthropies of New York.
