Federal Investigation Into Use of Medical Experts Likely

On August 7, 2005, The Seattle Times reported a story entitled “Drug Researchers Leak Secrets to Wall Street: Selling Drug Secrets.”   In this article, The Seattle Times stated that it had found 26 cases of doctors leaking confidential and critical details of ongoing drug trials to Wall Street firms and claimed that the practice of doctors “selling drug secrets” was driven by hedge funds.  In addition, The Seattle Times referenced the practice of hiring third party providers who match hedge funds with field experts as a means of obtaining possibly insider information.
