SRZ has represented Kaydon Corp. in various matters arising out of the asbestos-related bankruptcy of Keene Corp.  One noteworthy fraudulent conveyance lawsuit in the Southern District of New York was brought by the trustees of the Keene Creditors Trust, a trust that had been established in Keene's bankruptcy and was the successor to all rights to assert fraudulent conveyance and other claims arising from a series of transactions in which Keene had sold assets to Kaydon and other entities. The plaintiffs claimed more than $2 billion in damages.  With the trial just two weeks away, Judge Denny Chin granted our motion for summary judgment on behalf of Kaydon and dismissed the case in its entirety, a decision affirmed by the Second Circuit.
