Margaret Isa Butler is an associate in the New York office, where she focuses her practice on international M&A and joint ventures. She advises on hostile, friendly and distressed transactions and works in public company takeover defense as well as fund formation. She has extensive deal advisory and execution experience, in both legal and financial capacities.

Prior to joining SRZ, Margaret worked as an investment banker at Jefferies, where her clients included technology companies and their investors. She is a member of the M&A Committee of the New York City Bar Association and the leader of the Harvard Club of New York City’s M&A interest group. She has taught at a New York City Bar Association CLE program on securities law and spoken at a distressed investing conference. She has also been published in The New York Times and The Wall Street Journal. Margaret received her A.B. from Harvard College, her MBA from Columbia Business School, and her J.D. from Columbia Law School, where she served as Senior Editor of the Columbia Law Review and was designated a James Kent Scholar.
