Recent Developments in Labor and Employment Law

Recent developments in federal and state labor and employment laws provide broader protection to employees and place new obligations on employers. This Alert looks at recent amendments to the Family and Medical Leave Act that provide additional protections to employees with family members serving in the military, as well as proposed modifications to existing FMLA regulations in a variety of different areas. Also discussed in this Alert are significant recent additions to New York's Labor and Employment Law, including new laws regarding nursing mothers, leaves of absence, employee protection and privacy, wages, employee misclassification, and public accomodations.
