Summary of the U.S. Treasury Department’s ‘Blueprint for a Modernized Financial Regulatory Structure’

On March 31, 2008, the U.S. Treasury Department (the “Treasury”) released its plan for an improved financial regulatory structure, which the Treasury characterizes as “one that strengthens consumer protections, improves tools for market stability and enhances financial innovation.” The Treasury’s Blueprint for a Modernized Financial Regulatory Structure (the “Blueprint”) introduces a series of short-, intermediate- and long-term recommendations to reform the U.S. regulatory structure.
