Schulte Announces 2020 Brooks Burdette Fellow

Schulte investment management associate Erika Simonson has been chosen as the 2020 Brooks Burdette Fellow. As a recipient of the fellowship award, Erika will work full-time at the Urban Justice Center in New York City for a period of six months. For more than 15 years, Schulte has provided pro bono legal services to the Urban Justice Center. The organization offers material support and guidance to independent projects that provide crucial direct legal services, systemic advocacy, community education and political organization to people and communities in need.

In 2009, Schulte created the Brooks Burdette Fellowship in honor of the late litigation partner who was a long-time chair of the Pro Bono Committee and whose commitment to public interest work while at the firm was exemplary. Brooks was a board member of the Lawyers’ Committee for Civil Rights Under Law and was the first chair of the Board of Democracy Prep, a Harlem charter school.
