Schulte Roth & Zabel Marks its 10th Anniversary in London
February 8, 2012
Schulte Roth & Zabel LLP is pleased to celebrate the 10th anniversary of its London office in 2012. Formed in New York in 1969, SRZ is a leading legal service provider to the global hedge fund industry.
SRZ opened its doors in London in September 2002, a natural extension into the UK of its successful US investment management practice. In the past decade, SRZ’s London practice has advised some of the most celebrated names in the European hedge fund industry and has gained an impressive share of the European investment management legal market.
“We are grateful to our clients and pleased that we are able to celebrate this milestone with them,” said Paul Roth, founding partner of the firm and chair of the Investment Management Group.
The foundation of SRZ’s London practice includes partners Dan Shapiro, a founding partner of the firm, who remains actively involved with London clients, Chris Hilditch, managing partner of the London office, and Josh Dambacher, who transferred to the London office from New York as the UK practice expanded. Special counsel Kerrie Walsh and Nick Fagge, who joined the London office when it opened, complete a team of senior lawyers that gives SRZ’s London office one of the largest and most experienced groups of hedge fund lawyers in London.
SRZ has been named one of the UK’s top legal service providers to hedge funds by Chambers and Partners UK and PLC Which Lawyer legal directories, and named “Leading US Law Firm in London” by The Hedge Fund Journal.
Much of the success of SRZ’s London investment management practice over the past ten years is due to the firm’s unique perspective. Particularly, fund managers need to consider the UK and US implications of structuring and managing funds, and SRZ’s top-tier hedge fund practice in the two major financial jurisdictions, New York and London, makes SRZ the only law firm to offer seamless Transatlantic services.
The hedge fund industry has come far in ten years, developing from niche asset management strategies that generally catered to high net-worth clients and families into an industry force that manages funds for a broad class of institutional investors. Similarly, SRZ’s London practice has grown into a premier hedge fund legal adviser for the European market.
SRZ will celebrate this milestone throughout 2012.
