SRZ Hosts Seminar: London Investment Management Hot Topics
11 March 2014
SRZ hosts its annual seminar “London Investment Management Hot Topics” on Wednesday 12 March. As the only leading law firm with a top-tier hedge fund practice in both Europe and the US, SRZ lawyers will share their unparalleled market knowledge in discussion panels covering management company structuring and operations; marketing opportunities and challenges; and fund strategies and structuring. The event is invitation only.
“In the UK, US and abroad, the newly defined investor base and increasing government oversight have led to sweeping changes in how funds are launched and operated. During the seminar, we will discuss those developments and myriad issues facing fund managers today,” said Christopher Hilditch, SRZ partner and head of the London practice.
“As counsel to some of the most influential investment firms in the world, we make every effort to stay well ahead of important developments impacting the formation and management of funds. We look forward to sharing our unique perspective,” said Josh Dambacher, SRZ partner. The firm represents nearly half of the 100 largest hedge funds and more than 3,000 investment funds globally.
Earlier this year in New York, SRZ held its 23rd Annual Private Investment Funds “PIF” Seminar, which attracted more than 2,000 participants from the private funds sector. In addition to PIF and the London Hot Topics, SRZ conducts webinars and other premier events throughout the year in the UK and US.
The speakers at the London Investment Management Hot Topics seminar are leading edge practitioners representing a number of SRZ’s practice groups including investment management, regulatory & compliance, restructuring, distressed investing, distressed debt & claims trading, mergers & acquisitions, structured products & derivatives, and tax.
Paul Roth, SRZ founding partner and chair of the firm’s investment management group, will offer introductory remarks and founding partner Daniel Shapiro will close the program. The event also features partners Brian Daly, Peter Declercq, Marc Elovitz, Nick Fagge, Jason Kaplan, Jim McNally, Sonya Van de Graaff, Kerrie Walsh, Steven Whittaker, special counsel Cathy Weist and associate Ron Feldman.
Alan Waldenberg, chair of the firm’s executive committee and chair of the tax group, said, “We are delighted to host these important discussions in London, where we have seen tremendous growth in our practice.” SRZ’s London office added 50 new funds clients just in the past year. Last month, SRZ expanded and relocated its UK office to Crown Estate’s One Eagle Place in the fashionable West End.
The firm’s London office is one of only three law firms ranked in Band 1 for Investment Funds: Hedge Funds by Chambers UK 2014 and one of only two law firms ranked in Band 1 for Investment Funds by The Legal 500 UK 2013. The office was honoured as “The Leading Law Firm for New Fund Launches” at the 2013 Hedge Fund Journal Awards, which recognize the leading service providers to the European hedge fund industry.
