As part of the SRZ Speaker Series and in honor of AAPI Heritage Month, the firm hosted The Daily Beast columnist Wajahat Ali who recounted with biting wit and wisdom how, as a Pakistani American, he has experienced life in America.

Insightful gems that Wajahat shared included:

  • Representation and having the space to flex who you are matters!
  • Replacement theory has it all wrong. People of color don't want to replace anyone, they just want to be invited to the party!
  • Make an impact wherever and in any way you can. Small, local footprints ripple across generations.
  • “Manels” – panels consisting of all men. Push to change that.
  • Choose to be aware, to be intentional, to act!
  • Everyone has a superpower. Find yours.

From the reaction of our attendees, Wajahat's superpower is indeed his storytelling, which entertained, educated and insightfully touched on many narratives lived by anyone who has felt marginalized in America.
