The Private Equity Review
May 2017
Deal activity and fundraising were strong in North America, Europe and Asia in 2016, but the year ended with uncertainty in the face of Brexit, a new U.S. administration and continued challenges in developing economies such as Brazil. Nevertheless, private equity is expected to continue to play an important role in global financial markets, not only in North America and Western Europe, but also in developing and emerging markets in Asia, South America, the Middle East and Africa. With these changes in mind, The Private Equity Review, published by Law Business Research Ltd., provides observations and advice on private equity dealmaking and fundraising in 29 jurisdictions. In the United States Fundraising chapter, partner Joseph Smith, associate Christopher Avellaneda and former Schulte lawyer Conrad Axelrod provide an overview of the current U.S. private equity fundraising landscape amidst a changing global economy. Partner David Cohen and associate Elie Zolty also assisted in the preparation of this chapter.
