Schulte Founding Partner William Zabel Establishes Professorship in Human Rights at Harvard Law School

For more than 50 years, Bill Zabel, founding partner and head of the Individual Client Services Group at Schulte, has been an advocate for social justice in the United States and abroad. From authoring the amicus brief on behalf of the ACLU in Loving v. Virginia, which struck down state laws prohibiting interracial marriage, to his work overseas investigating the cases of those who disappeared in Chile during General Augusto Pinochet’s “Dirty War,” Bill has proven himself to be a passionate human and civil rights activist. To further his devotion to protecting the rights of others and help inspire future generations to do the same, Bill recently established the William D. Zabel ‘61 Professorship in Human Rights at Harvard Law School (HLS) with a gift of $5 million. “Lawyers must remain vigilant in the fight against human rights abuses. My hope is that through this chair, HLS continues its tradition of attracting distinguished faculty members to share new research, scholarship and advocacy in the field,” Bill told Harvard.
