In a recent BNN Bloomberg article by Lisa Pham, Schulte Roth & Zabel partner Anna Maleva-Otto shared her thoughts on the recent Sustainable Finance Disclosure Regulation update, which has led to EU funds being reclassified.
Anna, who advises alternative asset managers mainly in the UK and the US, said that as a rule, “all underlying investments in Article 9 funds must qualify as sustainable investments,” as defined in SFDR. The mix between longs and shorts “is a matter of disclosure,” she said. For now, SFDR doesn’t contain “any specific instruction for how derivatives should be treated,” per the European Securities and Markets Authority.
